  • Not much else I can do at 4am, so I guess I'll just write and try not to squint too much from the brightness of the screen.
Interest rates jumped up at the end of last week to 6 % so instead of locking in our original rate of 5.25, we're floating our rate. Basically, we're waiting for it to go down again before locking it in. We have until 3 days before closing to get our rate. But of course, who knows when we'll actually close! The seller asked us if we wanted to move up the date, which we were fine with. She offered June, but we didn't want it that soon. Plus, we wouldn't have given our 30 day notice in time. So we suggested two different dates in July, the 13th or the 22nd. That was over a week ago, and we still haven't heard. It's getting close to us not being able to make the first date we suggested. We plan on closing a day before we move in, and keep the apartment an extra day or two in order to come back and clean. If we haven't heard by the end of this week, the first date goes out the window. Which is fine because the 22nd works better for us since we'd close a day before Tim's 4 day weekend.
Michael and Colleen are so different. Every day (night) just proves it more. I remember having some trouble every now and then in the beginning in getting Michael to sleep. Not counting the first week, I can recall 3 times, maybe 4 times. But we got him asleep, he'd only wake to eat, then go right back to sleep. Colleen now, I don't know if it's because of teething, the runny nose/cough she has, but my goodness, we've been awake since 2:15am. I did get her asleep right before 4, but for some odd reason, she woke the second I put her down. I'd ask Tim to deal with her, but since he has to get up at 5:45am for work, I'd feel guilty making him lose sleep. But then the selfish part of me is thinking, 'you're the one who's been up for over 2 hours already after only getting maybe 3 hours of sleep! How is it that it's okay for you to lose sleep but not him?!' Well, the answer to that is I'm not the one driving around in a car all day. If Tim were to fall asleep at work, there would be bad repercussions.
It seems by the time I may be able to get back to bed, the sun will be starting its rise. Who knows, maybe God will have pity on me and allow my daughter to sleep the entire night, some night soon.

Have you tried swaddling her?  All babies are different, but Maria hated being able to move.  We'd swaddle her good and tight and that made it easier to put her down or move her around after she fell asleep.  When teh limbs move or twitch, it sets off their flinching reflex and they tend to awaken.  Just a thought.  You're in my prayers!

@JMHardens060703 - Mangers are good too.  If it's good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for me.

@JMHardens060703 - i agree with the swaddling thing.  Both Makayla and Ephraim sleep great if we wrap them up real tight into baby burritos.  If we let them squirm, they will never get to sleep.  Makayla has always slept well and Ephraim is starting to sleep through the night.

@GabmakEdaddy - @JMHardens060703 - do you guys still wrap Makayla like that? I use to swaddle her, when I had her in the Amby. But once we moved her to the crib mattress, she sleeps on her stomach. She did great sleeping like that, it's just recently that she isn't. Oh, I remember I stopped swaddling her because she would wake when I would lay her down to swaddle - she didn't like being wrapped tightly if she was awake. Such a finicky girl!

If she's nursing, swaddle her before hand.  She'll get mad, but the frustration is also due to her being tired.  It will also wear her out that much quicker and you can put her down with little chance (hopefully) of her waking.
